Add UTM parameters to your Meta ads
Add the UTM parameters below to the URL parameters field on each Meta ad, and Meta replaces the dynamic tokens with the real campaign, ad set, and ad values at serve time. PixelFlow then reads those values to label traffic source and campaign details in your event logs, which improves tracking and attribution.
Add the parameters in Ads Manager
Set the parameters in the ad's URL parameters box rather than appending them to the destination URL, so Meta attaches them cleanly to every click.
Open the ad in Ads Manager and click Edit, or add the parameters while creating the ad.
Scroll to the Destination section and find the Website URL field.
Below the URL field, open the URL parameters box (or the Build a URL parameter link).
Paste the string from the next section into the box. Do not add a leading
?— Meta adds it for you.Publish the ad.
What to paste
Copy this string into the URL parameters box. Meta swaps each token in {{ }} for the real value when someone clicks the ad.
utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign={{campaign.name}}&utm_id={{campaign.id}}&utm_term={{adset.name}}&utm_content={{ad.name}}The fixed values label every click as paid Facebook traffic, and the tokens fill in the specifics:
utm_campaign— the campaign nameutm_id— the campaign IDutm_term— the ad set nameutm_content— the ad name
Retrofit existing ads without resetting delivery
Editing URL parameters is a minor edit and does not normally reset the learning phase, so you can add these parameters to live ads without restarting delivery.
Apply the parameters in bulk by selecting the ads and editing them together in the edit panel, instead of updating one ad at a time.
Audience Network gaps
Campaign and ad ID tokens do not always populate on Audience Network placements, so expect some gaps in UTM values for that traffic slice.
See the parameters in your event logs
After publishing, open the event logs and check the Traffic Source view to confirm the Campaign Name, Campaign ID, Ad Set, Ad Name, and Medium captured for your ad clicks.
UTM parameters label where the traffic came from. For how Meta itself decides which campaign gets credit for an event, see How Meta Attributes Events to Ad Campaigns.
