Add UTM parameters to your TikTok ads
Add the UTM parameters below to each TikTok ad, and TikTok replaces the dynamic tokens with the real campaign and ad values at serve time. PixelFlow then reads those values to label traffic source and campaign details in your event logs, which improves tracking and attribution. For Meta ads, see Add UTM parameters to your Meta ads.
Why do this?
Before: Events will show up with long strings of numbers in your PixelFlow attribution page
After: Events will show up with the exact campaign name, campaign ID, ad group, and creative from TikTok.
TikTok ad clicks are already counted as TikTok traffic through the ttclid click ID. The UTM parameters add the campaign-level detail: which campaign, ad group, and creative drove each event.
Add the parameters in TikTok Ads Manager
Set the parameters with TikTok's URL parameter builder so TikTok attaches them cleanly to every click.
Start creating your ad in TikTok Ads Manager and enter the destination URL.
Select the Destination section and click Build URL parameters. A side window opens.
Ensure you have each parameter and value from the list below in the UTM parameters fields and then Save:
What to enter
Parameter | Value | What TikTok fills in |
|---|---|---|
|
| Fixed value |
|
| Fixed value |
|
| Campaign name |
|
| Campaign ID |
|
| Creative name |
|
| Ad group name |
If utm_term isn't in the default parameter list, create it as a custom parameter with the value __AID_NAME__.
What this does:
TikTok replaces each of these values automatically so every visitor that visits has the real campaign, adset and ad name rather than long strings of numbers.
See the parameters in your event logs
After your tagged ads are running, open the event logs, open an event, and check the Traffic Source tab. TikTok events show the source as TikTok plus the Campaign Name, Campaign ID, Ad Set (from utm_term), Ad Name (from utm_content), and Medium captured for the click.
Open Attribution analytics and filter by the TikTok source to see which campaigns, ad sets, and ads drive your events and revenue. For how each source is classified, including TikTok, see How are traffic sources defined in PixelFlow?
