How To Improve PageView Event Match Quality Score?

What can you do to improve this metric in Meta events manager?

It is completely normal for your PageView event to have a lower match quality score compared to other events like ViewContent.

Why Does PageView Have A Lower Match Quality?

The PageView event fires the instant someone lands on your website. At that point, we usually have little to no identifying information about the visitor. We may not yet know their email, name, or phone number, and cookies or past identifiers may not have been established. Because of this, platforms like Meta have fewer signals to work with, which makes it harder to tie the event back to a specific person.

Why Does ViewContent and Other Events Often Have Higher Scores?

Events like ViewContent, AddToCart, or Purchase usually happen later in the journey when visitors are more engaged. By then, one or more of the following is true:

  • The user has already interacted with your site (search, browse, add items).

  • They may have logged in or provided an email/phone number.

  • A returning visitor can often be recognized by cookies or the Conversions API.

  • PixelFlow may be able to pass additional user data parameters at this stage.

With these extra signals, Meta has more information to match the event to a real account, which results in a higher match quality score.

What this means for your tracking

  • PageView = early, anonymous traffic → lower match quality

  • ViewContent and beyond = more engaged, known visitors → higher match quality

This difference is expected and does not mean anything is wrong with your setup. The most valuable events (such as Purchase or Lead) almost always have the highest match quality because they involve user-provided data.

How Does PixelFlow help with this?

PixelFlow automatically enriches events with as many user data parameters as possible through both the Pixel and Conversions API. Even though PageView events will almost always score lower, the later events that matter most for optimization and reporting will be well matched.
